Get Informed about the New HCBS Settings Rule

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has set forth new settings requirements for Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS). The regulations enhance the quality of HCBS and provide additional protections to individuals that receive services under these Medicaid authorities. These changes will have an impact on employment services available through Wisconsin’s Family Care, IRIS and Legacy Waivers, thereby strengthening the WI Employment First initiative.

CMS requires states to submit a transition plan describing how they will come into compliance with these new requirements. Wisconsin is developing its transition plan now. This plan must be submitted for Family Care by December 31, 2014.  A plan that covers IRIS and the Legacy Waivers by March 17, 2015.

States are required to have a public comment period on the transition plan.  This public comment period is coming soon!  We will post information and resources to prepare you for that public comment period on the WI Employment First website, so please check back often for updates!
